About Residential Care

Dementia describes a group of symptoms caused by a number of diseases and conditions. These primarily affect older people but can be found in younger people too. The Alzheimer's Society estimates the UK to have around 700,000 people living with dementia. Each person will experience dementia in a unique way. Typical signs of dementia include memory loss and difficulties with speech and perception.

Behavioural changes become more apparent as the disease progresses, showing themselves through the individual's responses to their environment and to people in it. They may find previous hobbies and interests confusing and have difficulty recognising their loved ones. The individual may experience frustration and anxiety as verbal communications become increasingly challenging.

Relatives caring for a loved one with dementia often find their role both demanding and upsetting.

Keyendon House understands the complex issues families face at this time. We aim to improve the quality of life for everyone affected by dementia. In our care, residents and their relatives benefit from specialists in dementia care and family and friends are encouraged to be a part of the ongoing care plan.
